I have worked in the Voluntary and Community sector for almost eight years now, in that time I have lost out on seven years of increments and also had two pay cuts totalling 8%. In total a colleague working for Tusla will earn 28% to 30% more than I earn. On a personal level, this is not sustainable and will in all likelihood lead me and my hard working peers to seek employment elsewhere. I am as dedicated and as hardworking as any other member of this sector and what I need to see now is equality in how my peers in Tusla and those working within a sector where inequality is rife.
